The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday considered the petition requesting a new NEET-UG exam 2024 because of a reported paper leak and additional fraudulent practices. The court remarked that the integrity of the test has been compromised, while also clarifying that counseling sessions remain unhindered by any stay.

Various petitions are presently contesting the outcome of the NEET UG exam owing to accusations of discrepancies, an unusually high number of students sharing the top position, concerns surrounding the distribution of grace marks, and possible test paper leaks. The judiciary served a notice to the National Testing Agency on June 4, 2024, asking for an explanation regarding these issues. The presiding bench underlined the necessity for transparency, noting that the integrity of the test has been compromised.

The National Testing Agency has been instructed to submit its reply by July 8, 2024, showing that a definitive ruling from the court is yet to be announced. Nevertheless, admission counseling is permitted to proceed forward.
