Pending Applications for Issuance of Eligibility Certificate

The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently notified the public that certain MBBS students pursuing medical studies overseas have not finalized their applications for an Eligibility Certificate. This is due to issues such as missing documents, incomplete information, or a lack of response to queries from certain candidates. Under Section 13(4B) of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, Indian nationals undertaking medical training abroad are required to secure an eligibility certificate from the Council.
The NMC has released a notice urging all affected candidates who left their applications incomplete to finish them within a 30-day window beginning on the date of the notification, specifically from 18th April 2023 to 18th May 2023. It is crucial that these individuals heed the announcement and finalize their submissions promptly.
Students with pending applications for an Eligibility Certificate can finish the process through the official NMC website at nmc.org.in. Neglecting to do so will render their application null and void, leading to closure without any additional warning.
Securing the Eligibility Certificate is a vital prerequisite for any Indian national studying medicine overseas, as it is compulsory for appearing in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) within India. Not obtaining this certificate can lead to severe outcomes, including being barred from practicing medicine domestically or enrolling in postgraduate medical courses.
The NMC has also emphasized that submissions arriving past the deadline will be rejected, meaning those candidates will lose their opportunity to acquire the Eligibility Certificate.
