NMC’s Amendment: FMGs’ One-Year Internship Eligibility

Following various rumors and building upon the Public Notice issued on June 07, 2024, the Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) published another Public Notice on June 19, 2024. It stated that Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) who finished their MBBS program entirely through offline or physical classes overseas, matching the standards of an Indian MBBS degree, qualify for a one-year internship under the Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI) Regulations 2021.

The NMC additionally made it clear that the terms and conditions outlined in the December 7, 2023, Public Notice continue to apply to FMGs without any alterations.

This announcement concerns all Indian citizens who earned their medical degrees from any nation globally, provided the curriculum corresponds to the Indian MBBS standard.
