On January 16th, 2025, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released a public announcement stating that the National Medical Commission (NMC) has chosen to hold NEET (UG) 2025 using a pen and paper format through OMR sheets. Furthermore, the test will take place on a single day during one shift. Previously, following occurrences during NEET (UG) 2024, there were rumors that the test might shift to a computer-based format.

Based on Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act of 2019, NEET (UG) acts as a standardized test for entering undergraduate medical programs across every field, such as BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BHMS throughout India. This uniform exam is required to guarantee fairness, uniformity, and transparency in medical admissions across the country.

In addition, candidates wishing to join the Military Nursing Service (MNS) are required to pass NEET (UG) to gain entry into the B.Sc. Nursing program held at Armed Forces Medical Services Hospitals. This condition supports the goal of keeping a uniform assessment method for all healthcare-related programs.

Candidates can check the official NTA website at https://www.nta.ac.in/ if they need further information or explanation concerning NEET (UG) 2025.
