NBEMS Introduces Mandatory Time-Bound Sections in Computer-Based Exams

A major modification has been introduced by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) for its multiple-choice question examinations, including NEET-PG, NEET-MDS, NEET-SS, FMGE, among others. To strengthen test security, NBEMS is introducing compulsory timed segments across all computer-based assessments. This preventive action tackles modern examination challenges and aims to reinforce the reliability of evaluations. Consequently, question papers will now be split into distinct timed blocks.
As an illustration, the NEET-PG 2024 examination paper will feature five timed segments, designated as A, B, C, D, and E. Every segment will comprise 40 questions, with a dedicated duration of 42 minutes.
- Test-takers will be barred from advancing to the subsequent segment until the full duration designated for the prior segment has elapsed.
- Participants will not retain the ability to examine previous questions or alter their answers for any segment once its assigned duration has expired.
- The questions belonging to the following segment will load and begin automatically the moment the time limit for the preceding segment runs out.
- Nevertheless, applicants retain the choice to flag any question for review, regardless of whether it has been answered or left blank. This allows test-takers to check flagged questions within a segment prior to the expiration of that segment's time limit. It is essential to understand that questions designated for review will be assessed according to the specific scoring guidelines outlined in the Information Bulletin of the relevant test.
The total quantity of time-restricted segments in a given examination can fluctuate based on the overall question count and logistical practicality.
These newly mandated timed segments will take effect for GPAT 2024, NEET-PG 2024, and upcoming computer-based examinations administered by NBEMS. Aspirants are advised to check the examination structure inside the Information Bulletin for NEET-PG 2024 and GPAT 2024 appropriately.

This substantial modification highlights the dedication of NBEMS toward preserving the fairness and trustworthiness of its assessments while responding to evolving modern difficulties.
