Mari State University has once more proven that pursuing an MBBS in Russia extends far beyond classroom learning, providing a comprehensive developmental journey that equips students for future success. During the recent Games of the People of the World, organized by the Mari-El Republic and held in the capital city of Yoshkar Ola from July 24 to July 28, 2024, Indian students played an active role throughout the festival, displaying their abilities and standing out in their respective fields.

The competition drew over 1500 athletes from 51 regions across Russia alongside three foreign nations, competing across 15 varied sports. Participants displayed traditional martial arts and athletic disciplines including aikido (phygital aikido), all-style karate, kendo (jodo), kuresh, muay thai, sambo, mas-wrestling, lapta (Russian), uchkur, kabaddi, cricket, sonar, chess boxing, taekwondo, and belt wrestling.

Indian learners at Mari State University took part and triumphed in multiple athletic events. Their skill and strong collaboration propelled their squads to win in their categories during the cricket tournament, with the Powerhitters team claiming first place, the Superstrikers team taking second place, and the Trendsetters team earning third place.

Their dedication was instrumental to the overall success of the occasion. Inspired by the passion of the Indian scholars, kabaddi was featured in the Games for the first time. The Indian students at Mari State University assisted in setting up and managing the kabaddi tournament, guaranteeing a seamless and organized event for everyone involved. Cooperation, participation, and grit led to success as the DANGER BOYS team captured first place, the ALLROUNDER DOCTORS team captured second place, and the TEAM WOLF team claimed third place, bringing honor to their groups.

Enhancing the lively atmosphere of the Games, both the opening and closing ceremonies featured energetic participation from Indian MBBS students. They took part in several showcase performances, sharing their gifts with the vast stadium crowd and highlighting the diverse talents and cultural traditions they bring to Russia.

Their energetic displays not only highlight Indian athletics but also strengthen academic and cultural ties between India and Russia.
