Students who have finished their MBBS studies overseas and intend to practice or pursue further medical studies in India are required to take and pass the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). Applicants must hold a primary medical qualification that has been verified by the Indian Embassy as a recognized credential for registration. The National Board of Education has already published the key dates for all examinations under its administration.

For the year 2021, registration for the FMGE exam set for 18th June 2021 opens today, 16th April 2021, at 3:00 PM and runs until 6th May 2021 at 11:55 PM. Students must gather the following documents when registering for the FMGE 2021 examination:
- Passport-size Photograph
- Signature
- Left and Right Thumb Impression
- Proof of possessing Primary Medical Qualification
- Eligibility Certificate/Admission Letter
- Identity Proof of Citizenship.
All participating candidates must have successfully passed the final examination for their primary medical qualification, such as an MBBS or an equivalent degree, by or before 30th April 2021. Furthermore, foreign medical degrees must be either attested by the Indian Embassy or apostilled by the relevant authority in the respective foreign country. Please ensure that the attestation or apostille complies with the standards of the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961, which eliminates the need for legalization of foreign public documents (Apostille Convention).
According to the notification released by the National Board of Examinations on 15-04-2021, the 2021 FMGE exam will be conducted via a computer-based platform at multiple testing locations nationwide. The notification also encourages students to check the official website for additional information regarding eligibility requirements, fee details, the syllabus, test format, and other particulars.
