On the magnificent evening of March 18, 2023, Ashiraj MBBS celebrated its pride by hosting alumni who recently passed the Indian medical licensing exam, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), at a splendid FMG Felicitation Ceremony 2023 held at the Russian House in New Delhi.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests who came to congratulate and impart their wisdom to the new generation of doctors. The attendees included Mr. Oleg Osipov, Director, and Ms. Elena Barman, Head of the Education Department from the Russian House in New Delhi, along with Mr. Viktor Garelikh, Representative of the Russian Embassy, as well as the leadership team of Ashiraj MBBS: Prof. S.K. Washim, Chairman; Air Marshal Dr. Pawan Kapoor, Vice Chairman; and Mr. Syed I. Rigan, Managing Director.

Dr. Dinesh Singla, Director, alongside Ms. Priya Malhotra, Assistant Director of Ashiraj MBBS, hosted the event and extended a warm welcome to the main guests of the evening, namely the proud parents and the newly qualified doctors.

The celebration began with the traditional lighting of lamps by the chief guests to inaugurate a truly unforgettable evening. Air Marshal Dr. Pawan Kapoor welcomed the beaming faces with inspiring and thoughtful remarks. He noted that while passing the FMGE is a major milestone, their true education has only just started. He remarked that the path of medicine is a lifelong pursuit, noting that universities provide medical knowledge while life imparts the art of healing, and since medicine has no final destination, practitioners must continuously stay adaptable and informed.

Ms. Elena Barman also spoke to the Russia-educated physicians and their proud families, expressing her joy at witnessing these former students blossom into medical professionals. She shared her appreciation for how smoothly these alumni embraced Russian culture while staying true to their Indian heritage, thereby experiencing the finest aspects of both cultures.

Prof. S.K. Washim addressed the audience directly to connect with the MBBS in Russia alumni, whom he considers his own juniors. He offered his congratulations to both the graduates and their families for making their long-held dreams a reality. He reiterated that although the students have overcome a major obstacle, they still have much to learn about the intricate lessons of life.

Ms. N.V. Minaeva, Rector of Perm State Medical University; Prof. Mikhail Shvestov, Rector of Mari State University; and Prof. Miroshnichenko I.V., Rector of Orenburg State Medical University, also conveyed congratulatory messages to their former pupils.

The Indian Representatives at leading government medical universities in Russia, including Dr. Vikas Saxena from PSMU and Dr. Rohit Chaudhary from OrSMU, shared voice messages expressing their happiness over this remarkable accomplishment by the students.

Subsequently, the new doctors were invited to the stage where the guests presented them with mementos of recognition. Following this, several graduates and parents stepped forward to recount their personal journeys of pursuing an MBBS in Russia, detailing the obstacles they encountered and how they successfully surmounted them.

The event drew to a close as the parents, fresh graduates, and the Ashiraj MBBS team gathered for a commemorative group photo to preserve the memory for years to come.

The night concluded wonderfully as the attendees enjoyed drinks, dinner, pleasant music, dancing, and conversations celebrating past milestones and future triumphs.
